It has a vivid, perfumed bouquet of black cherry and wild blueberry, complemented by sweet lavender tones and hints of spice. This possesses amazing complexity and inner perfume. Violet florals arc across the palate as the Cerasuolo finishes long and slightly tart. In 2024, Cristiana Tiberio used all of her Montepulciano fruit to bolster the Cerasuolo. This is not to be missed. – By Eric Guido on May 2025

3) Gimmonet-Gonet “L’Origine” Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru N.V.: $16 100% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru villages of Oiry, Chouilly, Oger, Cramant and Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger from vines that average 35 years of age. The grapes are fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks before blending with 30-45% reserve wine and aged in bottle for 22-36 months. This Champagne exhibits deep gold color with a steady stream of small, attractive bubbles. Expressive aromas of green apple, alpine strawberry, raspberry and an autolytic note reminiscent of beignets plume forth in an enticing medley from the glass. The palate is racy and textured with flavors of kiwi, salted citrus and apples that effortlessly flow into a refreshing finish with remarkable concentration and length. Dosage: 6g/L

4) Marie Copinet Rose Brut N.V., France: $16 “The fabulously tempting color is an absolute delight for the eyes. The nose is full of the fresh, exciting aromas of pink grapefruit, strawberries, violet and marsh-mallow. As it opens out the wine exudes a veritable cascade of red fruit aromas. Lively, fruity yet delicate on the palate this is a rosé champagne full of freshness and purity. A light, fresh rosé that’s always marvelous as an aperitif. A fine match with fish and charcuterie too.”-Winemaker 50 % Chardonnay, 30 % rosé de saignée from Meunier, 20 % Pinot-Noir vinified in red. Chardonnay from Villenauxe la Grande, Meunier from Montigny sous Châtillon & Cuchery, Pinot-Noir from Verpillières sur Ource. Zero use of herbicide and insecticide.

WHITE WINES

6) Buoncristiani Triad Blanc 2019, Napa Valley: $13 69% Sauvignon Blanc, 18% Viognier, and 13% Chardonnay. Complex aromas of lemon zest, white peach, spicy pear, orange sherbet, floral muscat, vanilla, and lemon cream pie entice the senses. On the palate, a creamy texture leads the way to layered flavors of mango, pineapple, apple, key lime pie, honeysuckle and vanilla wafer. Zesty citrus flavors, tropical fruit and ultra bright acidity linger in the crisp and clean finish.

7) Clos de la Houssaie Muscadet Sevre et Maine 2018, Loire: $11 Our iconic wine, the essence of Muscadet Sèvre & Maine terroir. Le Clos de la Houssaie is a 70 year old vineyard located in La Haye Fouassière. The grape grows peacefully in its own micro-climate, protected by an old stone wall. This wine has been used as a reference for the label “Grand cru de Sèvre & Maine” in 1926. Since 2009, it is known locally as “Cru Communal la Haye Fouassière”. Elegant and bright with notes of white flowers, sea salt, citrus, and chalky notes.

8) Rex Hill Seven Soils Chardonnay 2018, Willamette Valley: $10 A blend of chardonnay from select Willamette Valley vineyards chosen for complexity, fermented and aged in small French oak barrels for depth and longevity.

RED WINES

9) Peirson Meyer Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2018: $16 Winemaker notes: Bright fruit aromas of cherry, wild ripe berries and pomegranate blend graciously with a palate that hints of sweet spice, a flinty minerality, and a distinctive fresh earth quality. Open and expressive in its youth, the 2018 will expand and age beautifully for years to come.

10) Sella & Mosca Tanca Farra Sardegna Alghero Rosso 2018: $11 Ruby red in color with garnet reflections. On the nose, floral, herbaceous and tar notes are accented with leather and spice. Full-bodied, dry and balanced, with supple tannins. 50% Cannonau, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine Enthusiast 92 pts. On the nose, aromas of dried cranberries, dried cherries and rose petals join herbs and earth. Tart fruit becomes more assertive on the palate, but firm tannins and tense acid accentuate an enduring earthiness. Refreshing, but substantial.

11) Domaine La Suffrene Bandol Rouge 2021, Provence: $11 The nose opens with violets followed by prune and hints of cacao nibs. Coming from Los Chacayes, a subregion in Uco Valley, this wine showcases a ripe and well-balanced character. Silky tannins and matching acidity provide support to blackberry jam and chocolate flavors in the plush palate. The firm finish offers light notes of baking spices. Drink now through 2027.

12) Kith & Kin by Round Pond Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, Napa Valley: $12 “A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, and 5% Petit Sirah, aged for 14 months in 50% new French oak barrels… it features beautifully ripened fruit notes akin to blackberries, black cherries, and ripe plums. Very skillfully made.”
